Steamed Swiss Chard

You have to be a little careful when making steamed Swiss chard because it's very easy to overcook, especially if you just set a timer and walk away. You could come back to some VERY wilted and colorless chard! But if you're careful, it just might become one of your favorite dishes.

Plus, cooking your chard in this way helps cut down on the added fat that usually occurs when using a technique such as sautéing.

You can choose to use the stalks or not. If using the stalks, remove from the chard and cut into 1-2" pieces. Steam the stalks first. Cook for 5 minutes. Add the leaves and continue cooking until they're tender and brightly colored.
