Steamed Bok Choy

When you make steamed bok choy, it allows the natural flavor of the veggie to come shining through, unlike some other cooking techniques you might use. (Sometimes the delicate flavor of bok choy gets lost when mixed with complex dishes.)

Of course, it's best to enjoy it in its raw state, but when you're looking to make an interesting side dish, give steamed bok choy a try.

You can choose to use the greens or not, but I highly recommend them as they're delicious. If using the greens remove them from the bok choy -- the stalks take longer to cook. Cook the stalks first (can be steamed whole) for about 3 minutes. Add the leaves and continue cooking until they're tender and wilted (about 3 minutes more). The total time for cooking of the stalks should be about 6 minutes.

Use the Bok Choy "Vegan Flavor Matches" for flavoring ideas.
