Soy Milk Makers - Worth the investment?

by Kathleen

Do any of you make your own soy milk with a soy milk maker? If so, do you own one you like? Which brand and model do you advise purchasing, if any? Do you really use it frequently or did it turn out to be a dust collector? I'm spending a fortune on soy milk, so I'm considering one. Just not sure. Thank for any consumer advice.

jack lalanne soy milker
by: Shannon

I personally am very interested in the power juicr elite from jack lalanne. It's ajuicer AND a milker (soy, rice, almond, etc.) I'm convinced as far as the ads are concerned, but has anybody REAL ever used one?

Soy Milk Maker
by: Cyndi

We have two soy milk makers made by Soya Joy. One was my husbands before we married and one mine. I loved them until I realized that my migraines we coming form soy so I have stopped using them for sthat, but I use it for almonds and other things. I highly recommend the Soya Joy.
The soy milk does not taste like what you get in the store. It is thin and more beanie, but not offensive. Also it gets grainy after a couple days so we didn't stir it. Also it spoils within 4 days. A recipe book also comes with the product. and it is very helpful.
The down fall is the cleaning. The filter/screen is very fine and has to be rinsed, soaked, and scrubbed strait away. At least let it soak, do not let it dry out.
When we got ours there was a special. For each one you bought, there was a discount. A friend went in on it with us so it was only $99.00 at the time. We've had ours since 2004 and they still work great. Oh also, they are noisy while grinding, but it is only for a few seconds. Do not do it while the baby is sleeping and leave the kitchen because you will jump out of your skin the fist couple times till you get used to it.

Raw Soy, almond, other nut mylks
by: Anonymous

Hello ~ I recommend using a Vitamix or other great blender with raw nuts and a fabulous recipe from a raw foods cook book. You soak your nuts over night, simply rinse and mix. Voila! Yummy and fresh. The best thing is...you can do soooo much more with that Vitamix! The mylk recipes I use come from Ani Phyo's cookbook.
