Meet Sassy Your Vegan Coach
Do you like to cook? If so, perhaps you can remember back to a time when your food didn't exactly turn out the way you had expected. That was me back in 1994. Well, I had always been a terrible cook. I burned practically everything I ever made.
So when I decided to "Go Vegan" all those years ago, and didn't know anybody who could show me the ropes, I figured it was FINALLY time to learn how to prepare meals that were delicious and nutritious. I purchased as many vegan cookbooks as I could, and with my trusty taste-tester hubby Jeff by my side, my kitchen laboratory was open.
The Girl Learns To Cook... I can't tell you how many horrible-tasting dishes were made back then. Oy! But somewhere along the way the tides started to turn. Little by little, dish by dish, I learned to create food that was 100% vegetarian and yummy.

It was truly amazing to me that I actually started to enjoy cooking! So after 9 years of hands-on practice and honing my skills, I opened Whirled Peas Vegan Personal Chef Service, preparing delectable vegan meals for my fantastic clients.
Of course, along with preparing food for others comes a responsibility... In all my years as a Vegan I kept running into huge amounts of conflicting information about the vegan diet. One day I'd read some information which solidified my resolve to be a Vegan, and the next day I'd question this same information. I really had no idea if the food I was preparing for Jeff and I (and my clients) could provide the nutrients that we needed. In order for me to continue enjoying my vegan way of life, I needed to learn the unbiased truth about vegan nutrition. So I enrolled in a nutrition course and to my delightful surprise, the topic of nutrition completely and totally fascinated me.
I fell in love very quickly with the wonders of the foods we use to fuel our miraculous bodies, graduating with Honors as a Nutritional Consultant in record time.
So Life Was Rolling Along... ...and I was happy in my chosen career as a Personal Chef. I loved my little business. Loved making others happy through the creation of my food. I worked HARD...
- interviewing new clients
- creating their menus
- shopping for groceries
- loading the car with the pots/pans/tools of the trade
- unloading the car at the client's home
- cooking my little heart out for HOURS
- cooling, portioning, and packaging the meals
- cleaning the kitchen (and yes, washing the floor too - oy!)
- loading the car back up again
- and then unloading it when I got home...
- ...and doing it all again the next day.
Needless to say, as glamorous as it might sound, Personal Cheffing is a LOT of work. I eventually came to realize that no matter how hard I worked, there were only so many clients I could work with, so many people I could help -- and there was a limit to how much money I could make.
I needed to find a way to help more people and make the money I felt I was worth.
So I closed the virtual doors of my personal chef service for good. So, now what? Here I was stuffed to the gills with fantastic vegan cooking skills backed with knowledge of vegan nutrition, yet I didn't know what to do with my life.
How the heck was I going to make a living now?
At this point I was feeling a strong need to just take the advice of friends and family and pull my head out of the clouds, find a 9-5 job, and just make money like NORMAL people. But that just felt far too limiting to me. Because what I loved about my personal chef service was working for myself. I want and need to be my own boss. Taking direction from someone else just doesn't fly with me. And then, of course, there is my desire to make money even when I am not on the clock. A tall order? YES!

The Universe Provides... One day, when researching on the internet, I discovered SBI, which stands for Site Build It. SBI promised to teach me how to create an online business by building a website about a topic I love. It seemed to make sense, and would allow me to have the career I always dreamed of -- work for myself, work from home, and most importantly help others. But what the heck did I know about building a website? NOTHING! The only thing on the internet I was good at was checking my emails and doing Google searches. Plus, what could I make a website about? What specific talents, knowledge, or hobbies did I have that others would find useful? Then it struck me: Perhaps there are others out there who can benefit from my many years of experience with the vegan diet.
Voila! Vegan Coach was born.
It has been such an incredible experience making this website for you to enjoy. I love to find out what it is that YOU want to learn, and then putting my creative energies to the task. It's such a win-win. And the icing on the top of the whole delectable vegan cake?Feedback from my fantastic website visitors. This makes all the work worthwhile. In fact, you will see this feedback plastered all over my site because it is SO precious to me. Here is just a small sampling...
"Since I have become vegan I have lost 8lbs. most of which was belly fat. I am down from a size 7 to a size 4. I have lost inches off the waistline (no more love handles). I've also said bye-bye to heartburn, which was a constant annoyance. Thanks so much for your website, because it gave me the jumpstart to achieve this." -- Denise H., Redding, California
"OMG...what a GREAT site! All I can say is..."THANK YOU SO MUCH!" I've been a vegetarian for a year and have really been struggling with it lately...eating a lot of junk food and feeling terrible. This is exactly what I needed to put the excitement back into it and to try new foods. I can't wait to explore all the areas of your site and can't believe it is free." -- Annmarie W., Marlborough, NH
"This site is so totally inspiring, it has brought tears of joy to my eyes. I will be visiting often, if not every day! And I will tell my friends. So, thank you, thank you, thank you!" -- David F., Paducah, Kentucky
"Your website is the best! Exactly what I have been looking for. Thank you for providing so much information and support for those of us trying to opt out of the standard American diet for ethical and/or health reasons." -- Pam B., Greensboro, North Carolina | Receiving emails like this warms me to my kissers. :) "Life's most urgent question is what are you doing for others?" -- Martin Luther King Jr.
By the way... ...you may be wondering if there is a way you can build a website about a topic you love that will help others and create an income, like I did? You certainly can. My passion is vegan cooking and nutrition, but you can do what I'm doing with any passion, hobby, skill, area of expertise... whatever it is that makes YOU happy. And you can certainly do it at your own pace and according to your own schedule because you're the boss. I love that.
