How To Make Roasted Asparagus

Okay, asparagus is delicious no matter how you cook it. But making roasted asparagus is very special, since it caramelizes the outside which simply make asparagus impossible to resist.

First, read up on how to select, clean and prep your asparagus for the best results. You can learn how to do this on the Asparagus main page.

It's all easy from here on out. SUPER easy.

Heat oven to 450 degrees. Y ou want the oven nice and hot.

Medium-sized asparagus stalks work best for roasting. Thick stalks tend to be hard in the middle when the outsides are done, and too-thin stalks can turn to mush too quickly.

Lay the asparagus spears in a single layer in a large glass baking dish. Drizzle with extra-virgin olive-oil. Roll the asparagus around a bit to be sure they get coated. Sprinkle with salt and pepper.

Cook for 5-10 minutes, depending on the thickness of your spears. Halfway through the cooking time, remove the pan and shake it a bit which will help to flip the asparagus over.

Cook until the outsides begin to brown. Test the tenderness with a fork; they should be al-dente, meaning tender with a nice bite to them.

Your asparagus should be delicious as-is, but feel free to use the Asparagus "Vegan Flavor Matches" to add more flavors to your finished dish.
