Quorn: Friend or foe?

Hi there, I am wondering what your take on Quorn is. It is quite prominent in the United Kingdom (where I reside) and although I really like the taste, something (perhaps because it is very processed) tells me that it isn't that good for me.
I cannot wait to hear back from you. :-)

Deborah! Cheers to you over there in the United Kingdom. :) Let's see, to my understanding
Quorn is vegetarian but not vegan. At least according to my research and super sleuth label reading.
Why? Because Quorn products contain egg whites and milk products (or as my husband Jeff would say, chicken menstruations and cow lactations -- I know, isn't he gross?), which of course are ingredients we Vegans shy away from.
If you are not Vegan: Yes, Quorn is processed. As you might know, I condone a whole foods diet, but sometimes it's fun to eat the occasional processed (read: junk) food. But I must be honest, they seem to do a pretty good job with their products. According to their website's FAQ, Quorn products are all-natural and made with Quorn foods are made with an edible fungi (such as truffles, morels and mushrooms). Please note, Quorn is not organic, but it IS GMO-free.
Overall, if you are not vegan, it seems like a good choice - but really, only as a treat, rather than a daily part of your meals -- saves room for the whole foods, ya know? xo
