Going Vegan Without Spending A Fortune

I have been a vegetarian for a long time and just made the switch quite easily to vegan. My husband is neither of these. My question is: What is an easy shopping list of basic things to get when starting out.
I am trying to save some money (and I can see him frowning when I pick up 'strange' looking items). He will eat anything I make even though he eats the hamburger or hot dog once in a while.
I feel a little overwhelmed by all the choices and nutritional requirements that when I go to the store I just don't know what to get! Is it better to stick with specific recipes? Or should I really plan out meals so I know what to get?
*****Sassy Sez: This is such an important question, as I feel many people have the same exact questions and concerns when going vegan.
Firstly, you have come to the right place here at VeganCoach.com. The entire site is devoted to healthy vegan grub. ;O)
Eating vegan doesn't have to be difficult. My site will teach you how to eat/buy vegan CHEAPLY AND EASILY. You just don't need the fancy, expensive foods when you focus on WHOLE FOOD NUTRITION.
Begin on my
Vegan Nutrition page; this will give you a very good, general place to start.
Review the
Vegan Food Pyramid to learn about the number of servings you should eat of each food group.
The above information will help you to learn the basics you need to stock up on, such as veggies, beans, grains, fruits, etc.
Then visit the
Vegan Cooking Guide Tutorial to learn how to make use of these basic foods. (After spending two years simply building the site, I think you will find there is lots of
free information that you can use and bring into your life quickly and easily.)
If you are the type of person who needs more direction and wants someone to tell you "start here" and guide you through the maze of information, then consider my course
Get Down With Sass! While this was created as a weight-loss course (which it is), in the end it also turned into a primer for how to "Go Vegan". Each week, for 7 weeks, you are emailed a lesson with 2-3 things to do that week, so you learn everything in baby steps.
I know you will find this course incredibly helpful.

Thanks for writing, and hope this helps. xo
