I can never say this enough.....FREEZE the tofu! It gives a different texture and is more "chicken" like. I just throw the whole package in the freezer when I get back from grocery shopping and then take it out the next day to thaw. Then, make sur to squeeze as much water out as possible, cube it, then fry it with a little olive oil. Then you add your sauces or whatever for flavoring. Hope this helps!

Cooking Tofu by: Small Footprints
Our new favorite way to prepare tofu is to simply slice it, rub a little olive oil on it, and bake it in a 350 degree oven until it's firm. Then we serve it with a little homemade BBQ sauce. Yummy!

Pretty much anything! by: Handful
Bake it, fry it, deepfry it, add to soups (I sneak it in for my non-tofu eating man!), pasta salads (delicious with pasta, cherry tomatoes and Italian dressing) I think the key is marinating first to add flavor (it IS pretty tasteless on it's own)unless it is used in a dish with other liquid - ie soup.
I also found a recipe for chocolate pudding using silken tofu and soy milk. Nobody knew it wasn't the real deal! It was amazing

breakfast sandwich by: Janine
We make a delicious breakfast sandwich that is to die for! Slice extra firm tofu along the length of the slab, one slice per sandwich. Place in a pan, and sprinkle Tamari on top. Cook gently until the Tamari starts to bubble, turn it over and switch the stove off. The Tamari caramelizes. Meanwile, toast some bread. Spread with vegan marge or coconut oil and a liberal amount of your favourite nut butter on one slice. Slice some tomato. Put tofu on the nut butter side, top with tomatoes, and a sprinkling of salt and pepper, Close sandwich and enjoy!

"Eggs" Benedict by: Anonymous
We bought a tofu press. I highly recommend it. www.tofuxpress.com. Make sure you use "regular" tofu and not the silken type. I make "Eggs" Benedict for breakfast and my family loves it! After I press it, I slice it and place in a cast iron skillet. I make a mixture of soy sauce, garlic and lemon juice and spoon over tofu, then broil until it starts to carmelize. Then I place over english muffins with Ives Canadian Bacon and top with "cheese" sauce. I use a cheese sauce packet I found in the Gluten Free section in my local health food store. It is quick and easy and tastes great. My family loves this!! Good luck!

Cooking with tofu by: Raquel
I am new to the vegan world, however, I have found that tofu is really good in a variety of dishes. My favorite way to cook it is in stir fry. If you keep in mind that tofu takes on all the flavors that it's cooked with, the possibilities are endless. Pretty soon you'll be experimenting with it as much as I do!
Good luck and happy tofu cooking! :-)
