Braised Brussels Sprouts

Braised Brussels sprouts are delicious and quick to make. Due to the short cooking time the veggie doesn't have a chance to release its odors (which many people find offensive). This technique simply means that you will brown your veggie before adding liquid to the pan to complete the cooking process.

You can also use this technique before baking your Brussels sprouts to make them more tender so they'll bake in a reasonable amount of time.

You are going to begin by slicing the heads in half or quarters.

Place a frying pan with a lid over medium heat. Add a little extra-virgin olive oil (1 teaspoon should do it). When the oil is hot, add the Brussels sprouts. Stir and let cook until mostly browned. Add water (or veggie broth) until it comes halfway up the side of the Brussels sprouts. Cover and let cook in this liquid until tenderized to your liking. Drain liquid.

Your Brussels sprouts are now ready to eat. Use the Brussels Sprouts "Vegan Flavor Matches" to create your very own recipe. Add the foods and flavors you like directly to your pan. Warm. Serve.
