Boiling Corn On The Cob
Boiling corn on the cob is nearly foolproof. Here are some tips so you can learn how to boil corn like a pro.
Unlike some corn cooking techniques, you're going to shuck the husk and the silk completely from the corn. You can discover how to accomplish this to perfection in the Cleaning and Prepping Corn section on the Corn main page.
After you have removed the husks and all the silk, boil a big ol' pot of water -- large enough to completely submerge all the ears. You can break the cobs in half, if needed. Do not salt the water as this can make the kernels tough. Some people add a little sugar to the water believing this helps to make the corn sweeter.
Now, there are a couple different approaches to boiling corn on the cob. Give them both a try and see which one results in the taste you love.
Option 1: Once the water boils, add the corn cobs and boil for 10-15 minutes or until it has reached the desired tenderness.
Option 2: Once the water boils, add the corn. When it comes back to a boil, remove the corn from the water and place on a serving platter.
Corn is deliciously sweet all on its own.
