Boiled Brussels sprouts are best when making soups, but have fun creating your own masterpiece!
You can also use this technique before baking your Brussels sprouts to make them more tender so they'll bake in a reasonable amount of time.
To prepare, you can chop, slice or quarter the heads. Place in boiling water or veggie stock for 5-10 minutes. DO NOT OVERCOOK. Drain. You can also leave the heads whole, just lengthen the cooking time by a few minutes.
When sprouts are crisp yet tender, they're ready to eat, or to be used in a baked Brussels sprouts recipe of your own creation.
Tip: Most of us have smelled Brussels sprouts at they cook -- they tend to give off a rather unpleasant odor. This occurs, usually, when they're boiled. To avoid, wrap a piece of bread in cheesecloth and add it to your pot.
